First Injury...My Poor Dude!

We knew it was just a matter of time with as much as he has been pulling up on things and actually trying to climb on them.  He's been falling here and there but nothing like this morning.  Drew was playing with one of the toys he got for his birthday and as he was climbing up, he lost his balance and managed to hit his lip on it on his way down.

I knew something was wrong when I heard the scream and saw the blood coming from his mouth.  Turns out he managed to get a pretty nice fat lip going once we got the bleeding to stop.  Poor kiddo!!  I am sure I felt worse than he did since he was back to playing not even 5 minutes later and I am sure this is just the start of the bumps and bruises that come along with the toddler years!

Hopefully it heals by the time next weekend comes since we are getting family pictures taken!

At a Year Old...

At a year old, here is what Drew is doing:

  • Pulling up on everything and anything he can get his hands on.
  • Has taken a few steps and likes to walk assisted through the house.  He can stand on his own as well but doesn't have the confidence to try it on his own yet.
  • Is consistently saying 4 words:  momma, dadda (his favorite), nanna, baba.
  • Has gotten 2 more teeth on the bottom right for a total of 10 teeth.
  • Is being much more fussy when it comes to eating.  Some of his favorite foods include blueberries, cheerios, oatmeal, bananas, goldfish crackers, puffs, and oranges.  As soon as he sees the box of cheerios come out, he gets very excited and starts going "mmmmmm" as he opens and closes his hands.
  • For anything he doesn't like, he will actually pull it out of his mouth and throw it on the floor.  This includes any type of meat, cheese, egg, and cottage cheese.  He sure is making it difficult getting protein in.  We've resorted back to purees for now just to get some in.
  • He's on 3/4 milk and 1/4 formula.  He's ready to be on milk full time but I am not 100% ready to let it go cause I know it contains the nutrients he needs.  We have a well visit check this week with the pediatrician so we'll see where to go from here.
  • Overall, he's a very happy kid.  Unless he's tired or happy, he's smiling and doing a lot of "talking".
  • He's had a bit of a sleep regression since he's figured out how to pull up in his crib and can't figure out how to get himself back down.  We've been trying to teach him!
  • He's still comfortably in 12 month clothes but I have a feeling he'll be in 18 month soon.
  • He knows his shoes and how to turn the light switches on and off.
  • He's truly amazing and we love every single second we have with him!!

1st Birthday Party!!!

We decided on a train themed birthday party to celebrate the little dude's 1st birthday!  We had the party at a train themed restaurant, did candy trains for the favor, Drew wore a train outfit and there was a train on his birthday cake!

The party was a huge success even though Drew was a little tired, he did really well!  He was a very social little guy and made sure to at least say hi at each table.  He also LOVED his smash cake and that was definitely the highlight of the party!

He is also very loved.  He got some wonderful presents and he sure is having fun playing with everything!!

Here's a picture of the room, the candy train favor and the cakes!:

Here is Drew with some of his guests.  He was getting a little cranky but did so well overall:

Mmmm, cake and presents:

A pic with mom and dad:

Here's the video of the smash cake we had with him!  So much fun!

Finally, playing with some of his toys when we got home:

Happy 1st Birthday, Drew!!!!!

Holy moly, our little dude is one!!!  I took a 1/2 day to spend with my dudes and I am so glad I did.  We met nanna and nannu for lunch and Drew got a chance to eat his very first cupcake!  We had a wonderful day with Drew celebrating this wonderful little boy!  His big party is on the 5th and I cant wait to see what he'll do with his cake then!

And for the record, oh my goodness does this kid look just like me in this picture!  WOW.  Poor kid, haha!!

Drew's 1st Swim Lesson!

We weren't exactly sure how Drew was going to do during his first swim lesson but we had a feeling he would do pretty good since he loves his bath water.  When we first put him in, he shivered and was basically unsure of it for probably the first 5 minutes.  His dad went in with him and after a little bit, the both had a blast!!

After he adjusted. he fell in love with it!  By the end of the lesson, he would look to see if he could catch my eye and then start to show off by kicking and splashing!  It's definitely safe to say that they both had a great time!

Not sure about this momma:

Ooooh, this is fun!
